Since Jayson has started piano, I've noticed a boost in self confidence as well as a desire to come to class as he enjoys his progress. Living with autism Jayson is faced with many sensory challenges.  Despite the anxiety the challenges create for Jayson's outings he is still motivated to come to lessons. I feel its in large part to his teacher Mr. Brendan. His kindness, patience and skill really encourages Jayson to come to practice and enjoy his lessons. His approach has really nurtured Jayson by showing him it's ok to make mistakes and wonderful to learn a new skill. I would recommend any parent of a child with special needs or anxiety challenges to encourage their child to take lessons at Monroe Music.  Their teachers and staff are so welcoming, accommodating, and talented.

Most striking about Monroe Music it's founder, Barry Gellert and his open approach to lessons.  Older students are subtly encouraged to explore how and what they want to learn. Instruction is best supplemented when the student engages fully in the learning process and brings ideas to each session. Structure and fundamentals form the foundation but do not interfere with the skill development. If you arrive with motivation and energy you will leave determination to make music a part of your life.
